Bob Cisco Tips on Better Golf –
Hi Guys:
Here is one word of advice that not only helps you play
better golf but can save some money in the long run as well.
Take your golf clubs and give them a thorough cleaning of the
grips. Most golfers grips get too slick and get slippery and
this leads to errant golf shots where the club has slipped
some in your hands.
Golfers tend not to take care of their equipment. Cleaning and
checking heads, shafts and especially grips. How many of us hit
golf shots with the clubhead and grooves dirty. Get in the habit
of cleaning not only your club heads after a shot, but maintaining
your golf grips better. Keep your head covers on after shots.
Here’s what you can do to preserve the life and responsiveness of
your golf grips.
1>. Use a light gauge of sand paper to loosen the grit from the grip
2>. Wash the grip of the club with water and a good soap
3>. Clean the dirt and moisure from the grip and let dry
4>. Apply a sticky residue to the grip if still too slick to get
that tacky feel back to the grip
If you do this not only will your clubs grips be tacky and more
respondsve, but this process, if you do it every 3-4 mos will preserve
the life of your grips and clubs an additional 12-30 mos.
You can also change out your grips when the above doesn’t work any more.
Many golf shops like Roger Dunn Golf Shops (Calif) has a great repair shop and can do this for you while you shop the store.
Take care of your equipment and especially your grips! It will help you play better golf.
Best, Bob Cisco
